✨ Workshop Caption – Create Your Own Theatre Book
with Meg Clark — a Fredericton-based artist specializing in bookbinding, illustration, and design. Her work is featured in the upcoming exhibition Kindred Spirits: The Lucy Maud Montgomery Legacy as Interpreted by Contemporary Book Artists and Book Illustrations by local artist Leland-Wong Daugherty.
Join artist Meg Clark for a hands-on workshop exploring the art of the theatre book — a sculptural, accordion-fold book that opens to reveal a layered, three-dimensional scene, like peering into a miniature stage.
Participants will:
-
Learn the creative potential of tunnel (or theatre) books
-
Explore paper construction techniques, including folding, layering, and building depth
-
Design and create a unique, story-rich scene using illustration, collage, and mixed media
-
Bring a visual narrative to life in a playful, tactile format
All skill levels welcome — come curious and ready to create!
And while you’re here, be sure to explore Kindred Spirits in the gallery to see Meg’s work on display.
Participants will create a 5″ x 7″ tunnel book, and are encouraged to bring a scenic photo as inspiration for their book.
