The Andrew & Laura McCain Art Gallery is excited that you are considering our Main Street annex building – the River Art Centre & Studios – as a place to pursue your art. We are a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to increase access, awareness and an appreciation of art in our community.

Our vision for the River Art Centre & Studios is to provide affordable working studio space for artists to create.

The River Art Centre also provides a place for the community to learn and participate in the experience of art through workshops and summer camps.

The primary use of the studio space in the River Art Centre & Studios building is for creating art. We hope to create a partnership with studio artists and provide a space where artists’ creative work will thrive.

Application Process

• Call the Gallery and speak with Jennifer, complete and submit the Studio Application Form
• Upon acceptance you will then be asked for the first month’s rent.
• After the first month rent and security deposit are deposited, a move in date will be determined, at which time the artist will receive access to the studio by way of the door code.

There is currently (August 2024) space available in the upstairs common area for special projects. The Print Shop will be available for weekly rental after September 30, 2024. Membership in the Carving Studio for experienced carvers  is currently unavailable until further notice. Contact the gallery with further questions.

Private Studio

$75 – $125/month – No availability
Includes:

• Individual studio with locked door
• Access to power
• Wi-fi (currently provided but not guaranteed)
• Use of shared space, including upstairs and downstairs shared sink areas
• 24 hour access

Shared Studio membership in the Carving Studio

$50/month
For artists with limited time for studio work, life-long learners interested in carving in the shared studio is available and includes:

• Occasional supervised use in the designated shared studio space
• Wi-fi (currently provided but not guaranteed)
• Access to be arranged with supervisor

Print Shop Rental

The Print Shop is available to rent to interested printmakers who can demonstrate suitable technical skill. The cost is $30 per day for variable duration. There is an artist-in-residence programme at the Gallery. Interested emerging and professional Printmakers please inquire. Call 506-392-6769 for more details.

For artists or life-long learners interested in a shared communal studio space to develop or complete a special project:

• 10′ x 10′ designated shared studio space with table and chair
• Use of the 15′ wall
• Wi-fi
• Shared sink

Use the River Art Centre as the venue for your next meeting or event. It is a beautiful, spacious, and inspiring venue, with natural light and a large “Boardroom” table.

Request your Seating Arrangement:

• Theater Seating – rows of chairs without tables
• Classroom Seating – rows of chairs with tables. Tables are six feet long folding banquet tables.
• Hollow Square – setup up of six or eight foot banquet tables; used for conferences and meetings.
• U-Shape – setup up of six or eight foot tables; used for conferences and meetings.
