SUMMARY:A Different Light: Photo-based works by Dianne Bos
DESCRIPTION:Opening: 2 May 2026\, 2:00 – 4:00pm \nArtist Talk: A walk through the show with Dianne at 2:00 to 2:30 pm \nEveryone is welcome and we have an elevator \nPadua Bio Div 5.3\, 2019 \nLeran Castle Door 1\, 2019 \nCap-Roig-11\, 2019 \nDianne Bos investigates light\, nature and perception using a wide range of distinctive photographic processes and tools. Her focused interest in analog techniques has integrated exploration with pinhole photography\, vintage cameras\, cyanotype\, photograms\, and most recently\, chlorophyll printing. She will be showing a selection of early pinhole work as well as images from her most recent Herbarium/ PhotoSynthesis series. \nDianne Bos\, has evolved various thematic bodies of work\, and merged technical innovations to create new visual hybrids. She makes innovative use of pinhole\, camera obscura\, installation\, and alternative photographic techniques to explore the world around us. \n‘The excitement\, for me\, lies not in reproducing something I can see\, but in revealing the imperceptible (and maybe only the imagined) using the physics of light and time and darkroom techniques.’ \nDianne Bos is an internationally-exhibiting artist based in Canada and France. She has presented her photography and installation work in solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally in the United States and Europe. Her work may be found in private\, corporate and museum collections including the Art Gallery of Hamilton\, ON; the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery\, AB; the Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre\, AB; the National Gallery of Canada\, ON and Canadian embassies in Paris and Belgium. In addition to her artistic practice in the visual arts\, Bos’ professional interests have extended into the field of music\, publishing\, and teaching.

SUMMARY:Terre de passions: St. Pierre et Miquelon
DESCRIPTION:A Photographic Portrait by French artist\, Gregory Pol\nGrégory Pol is a renowned French photographer whose work explores landscapes and the natural environment. A former navigator and diver in the French Navy\, he lived for three years in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon\, an archipelago off the coast of Newfoundland. Since then\, he has continued to return to the islands\, developing a body of work shaped by his experiences on the islands with its open\, wild spaces. \nThrough photography\, Pol documents the landscapes and wildlife of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. His images reflect his ongoing engagement with the territory and its environment\, offering perspectives informed by recurrent observation and repeated encounters with the islands. \nGrégory Pol’s practice is grounded in a sustained connection to the natural world. As an artist\, sailor\, and avid scuba diver\, he brings an understanding of place that informs his photographic exploration of these islands.Often associated with a fishing history\, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon remain unfamiliar to many people. This exhibition provides an opportunity to encounter the archipelago through his eyes\,  images taken over multiple visits explore the natural beauty of Saint-Pierre\, Miquelon\, and Langlade\, tracing the changing conditions\, landforms\, wildlife and rhythms of the seasons. \nSaint Pierre and Miquelon is a self-governing territory of France located near  Newfoundland and Labrador. It is an archipelago of eight islands\, covering 242 km2 (93 sq mi) of land. It had an estimated population of 5\,513 in 2026 and its residents are French citizens; they elect their own deputy who represents them in the French National Assembly.

SUMMARY:Raku Firing 2026
DESCRIPTION:Meet Tim!\n“I’m originally from Brandon\, Manitoba. I found my passion for clay about 35 years ago in Winnipeg\, where I took a class with some inspiring young professional potters. My love for clay deepened in Waterloo\, Ontario. I became a member of the local Potters’ Co-op while also finishing a degree at the University of Waterloo.” \nMeet Jenna!\n“Hi\, I’m Jenna and I have a deep love of clay! As it turns out\, I love getting my hands dirty. The walls of my home are even (unintentionally) covered in clay. I continue to be amazed at all the things this wonderful material can do. I’ve been drawn to the magical art of clay shape-shifting on the wheel from a blob to a form since I first watched a potter as a kid.” \nJoin artists Tim Isaac and Jenna Ross for a hands-on Raku workshop that brings fire\, clay\, and creativity together in an unforgettable outdoor experience. Whether you are a seasoned potter or new to ceramics\, this is your chance to take part in the magic of Raku firing from pulling red-hot pots from the kiln to watching dramatic finishes emerge in real time! \nDate: Saturday\, June 13 from 9am-5pm \nFee: $60 per person \nLocation: Jenna’s house in Knowlesville (Address will be emailed to participants only for privacy reasons) \nTo register: Call (506) 392-6769 or email info@mccainartgallery.com \nAll pots must be bisque-fired prior to the workshop. Participants are encouraged to attend either a Make-it Day\, or clay drop-in until April 30th. *Drop-in pricing applies. \nWhat on Earth is Raku? \nRaku is an exciting pottery technique involving red-hot pots and combustable materials which can create dramatic effects. Raku dates back to 16th century Japan\, although “Western-style raku” has put its own variations on the technique. Raku firing is known for its unpredictability\, and each piece is one-of-a-kind! Raku firing is one of the most natural pottery techniques\, embracing imperfection and employing all of nature’s elements: Earth\, fire\, air\, and water. \nThe word Raku translated to English means: ‘happiness in the accident’\, pleasure\, enjoyment\, and delight!
