DESCRIPTION:Opening: 2 May 2026\, 2:00 – 4:00pm \nArtist Talk: A walk through the show with Dianne at 2:00 to 2:30 pm \nEveryone is welcome and we have an elevator \nPadua Bio Div 5.3\, 2019 \nLeran Castle Door 1\, 2019 \nCap-Roig-11\, 2019 \nDianne Bos investigates light\, nature and perception using a wide range of distinctive photographic processes and tools. Her focused interest in analog techniques has integrated exploration with pinhole photography\, vintage cameras\, cyanotype\, photograms\, and most recently\, chlorophyll printing. She will be showing a selection of early pinhole work as well as images from her most recent Herbarium/ PhotoSynthesis series. \nDianne Bos\, has evolved various thematic bodies of work\, and merged technical innovations to create new visual hybrids. She makes innovative use of pinhole\, camera obscura\, installation\, and alternative photographic techniques to explore the world around us. \n‘The excitement\, for me\, lies not in reproducing something I can see\, but in revealing the imperceptible (and maybe only the imagined) using the physics of light and time and darkroom techniques.’ \nDianne Bos is an internationally-exhibiting artist based in Canada and France. She has presented her photography and installation work in solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally in the United States and Europe. Her work may be found in private\, corporate and museum collections including the Art Gallery of Hamilton\, ON; the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery\, AB; the Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre\, AB; the National Gallery of Canada\, ON and Canadian embassies in Paris and Belgium. In addition to her artistic practice in the visual arts\, Bos’ professional interests have extended into the field of music\, publishing\, and teaching.

In this one and a half day workshop\, you will get that opportunity! You will use drawing paper with the features of your own face already lightly indicated on it. This establishes the overall positions of your facial features\, thereby ensuring a more realistic result. Using a mirror and photograph of your face as a reference\, you will draw your facial features and tones to complete your drawing. \nSaturday morning\, Stephen will photograph you\, which will be your reference. You will study examples of eyes\, mouths\, and noses from photographs and your own face. Your photograph will be processes Saturday afternoon so that when you arrive Sunday morning\, you will have a 12″ x 18″ sheet of drawing paper on which your features will be lightly indicated. No experience needed—just a willingness to explore\, experiment\, and have fun. My latest series of works brings together the elements I love most: clay\, raku firing\, found driftwood\, stones\, and shells\, all unified by bold lines and strong design. Living among the four elements—earth\, fire\, air\, and water—has deeply influenced my process. These forces come together in ways that feel more powerful and aligned than ever\, and I believe this is the strongest work I’ve created to date. \nI’ve been a full-time artist and potter for 38 years\, a juried member of the New Brunswick Craft Council since 1994\, and a past member of both the Ontario and Nova Scotia craft councils. Clay is very tactile and is a great medium for sculpture. For this workshop  Indu will demonstrate different ways of creating textures and making marks on clay. Experimenting with the tools on hand\, this is your chance to make a small 3-dimensional form and to get the feedback to make sure it appears in space the way you want it to. Look at it from all sides\, up and down and experiment with a variety of textures. After a 37-year teaching career\, she pursued her passion for art\, earning a visual arts degree from the Université de Moncton in 2016—despite initially knowing little French. \nBased near the Tantramar Marshes in Sackville\, NB\, Indu creates paintings\, ceramic sculptures\, and prints\, viewable in her studio or online. She has exhibited her work across Canada and internationally. Natt has exhibited across Canada\, been granted numerous residencies\, and his recent print projects have been intertwined with a variety of publications\, exhibitions\, and research grants. His work has been consistently supported by ArtsNB’s funding programs and the Canada Council for the Arts. Nat obtained his BFA from Mount Allison University (2012) and now resides in Moncton\, New Brunswick\, an Acadian colonial city which sits on the unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq Peoples. \nCaitlin Wilson (she/her) is an ADHD printmaker working in Moncton\, New Brunswick; the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik and Mi’Kmaq Peoples. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mount Allison University and moved to Moncton to become a member of Atelier Imago printmaking studio in 2009. In 2018\, Caitlin established Maplewood Studio\, from which she teaches art lessons\, prepares her “Artventures” art and eco-tourism day trips\, and hosts events. In 2022\, she and her partner Nat Cann repurposed a former church into studio space to house Maplewood Studio and work on their creative practices. DESCRIPTION:Small Works 2026\, November 21 – December 19 \nA festive and fun opportunity to find unique and one of a kind holiday gifts by local and regional artists. \nThe show opens at 10:30 am Saturday November 21\, 2026 \nWe are thrilled to have had another wonderful year of Small Works! \nNote for artists: Applications open for Small Works 2026 in May of 2026. You can find the application form here and fill it out digitally\, or print it off and send it through mail. If you have any questions about this annual show and sale please contact: info@mccainartgallery.com \n \nArtist Information:\nInformation for New Artists\nEach year\, the Andrew & Laura McCain Art Gallery (ALMAG) curates a seasonal fine art and craft exhibition at the Gallery entitled Small Works. This exhibition features local and regional artists who work in all media. \nThe show is unique in that the artists are not required to be at the Gallery! Our staff and volunteers are here each day completing the sales\, and keeping track of your inventory. \nWhat do you have to do? \n\nApply! Once applications open\, you can find the application form here on the website\, or you can email: info@mccainartgallery to directly receive an email when they open.\nOnce accepted\, you’ll be sent an inventory and tag template with your artist code that we will provide. You are responsible for tagging each item individually – yes\, even cards – and hanging items require two tags; one for the front and one for the back.\nYou will bring your inventory sheet(s) and tagged items with you to your scheduled drop-off.\nAt your drop-off\, you will set a pickup to grab any remaining works. *If everything sold we will let you know to save you a trip.\n\nIf you are from further away but are interested in participating\, please contact us and we will see how we can make it work! \nInfo@mccainartgallery.com or (506) 392-6769 \nInformation for Returning Artists\nIf you have participated in the Small Works exhibition previously\, your email will be on our contact list meaning you’ll receive direct notice once applications open. \nThings to remember: \n\nYou need to confirm that you wish to participate\nWe need an updated portrait and bio if they’ve changed OR confirmation that you’d like us to use your previous years’\nWe will need images of the works you plan to bring for the current year to use in our promotions\nEvery item needs to be tagged\, and pieces that hang on the wall should have two tags. *Please be mindful of where you put your tag\, as it should be simple to find\nYou are required to bring your inventory sheet along to your scheduled drop-off\n\nOther FAQs:\nI don't have many pieces\, how many do you need?\nWhether you have 3 pieces or 20 we would love to display your work! \nDo I price my works or do you?\nYou get to set your prices! The only thing to keep in mind is that pieces in Small Works must be $200 or less.
