James Buxton

Born and raised in the Upper St. John River Valley, James Buxton is a self-taught, multi-media artist, working with wood and metal. Along with specializing in traditional ash basket weaving, James has been carving life-size songbirds for the past 25 years. Carved from tupelo, a wood native to the southern states, James hand paints his work, creating one-of-a-kind pieces.
