A Native of rural Prince Edward Island, Rachel MacDonald has made Hartland, New Brunswick her home. After many years as a nurse, mother and volunteer, Rachel has developed her artistic talents.
Her love of nature and its beauty is the inspiration behind her floral watercolours. Her original works hang in several continents and her stationery print line can be found across Canada and the USA. Today she has added North American Song Birds and Atlantic Lighthouses to her collection.
Rachel’s first love, painting, is complemented by a busy schedule teaching watercolour art. Regular classes are primarily in Hartland, Fredericton and Halifax. Her emphasis is on “learning how to see” as well as various techniques to manage this magnificent, transparent medium. She constantly talks about the ‘need’ to find beauty in today’s society and the necessity of finding goodness in each other.
Rachel studied watercolour art with Don Cyr at the University of Maine, Ray Butler in Saint John, Art Cunanen in Toronto and a few classes at the Ontario Art College.
