Dawn Steeves has been an art enthusiast for as long as she can remember. She began her painting career in 2002 when she began working in acrylic paint. In September 2015, she began using oil paint as her primary medium, using traditional methods to achieve a certain level of realism in her work. Currently, she is pursuing the theme of plastic pollution, juxtaposing the subject of ordinary plastic objects with the traditional medium of oil paint on canvas.
Primarily self-taught, Dawn has also had the privilege of working with a number of great art teachers including Alex McGibbon, Stephen MacDougall, Philip Iverson, Rick Burns, and recently, Glenn Priestley.
Dawn lives and shares a studio in downtown Fredericton, New Brunswick with her partner and colleague, Michael A. Doucet.
